Patient /GP consultation

Info:

Here is an ambulatory blood pressure monitor which is worn by the patient for around 24 hours whilst they go about their normal daily business.  It checks blood pressure at regular intervals and gives a report detailing the average awake and average asleep blood pressure. This is more reliable than an isolated reading in the clinic which may be elevated if the patient is stressed. Asking patients to monitor their own blood pressure intermittently using an electronic machine at home (home blood pressure monitoring) is another means of getting BP measurements in a relaxed environment.

This gives a report of blood pressure over 24hours from which averages can be calculated
